Feathered Permanent Eyebrows
So what is the difference between 3D, 6D, Feathered, Solid, Powered, Hair Stroke permanent eyebrows??
Well, these names are all different techniques used by permanent makeup artists to describe the application of pigments to shape the eyebrow using either a manual blade or machine. This article will focus on the feathered or feathering name and technique.
Feathering vs Solid or Powdered Permanent Eyebrow technique
The solid or powered technique is, or was, the standard of applying pigment to the eyebrow which would completely fill in the brows. The permanent makeup artist uses a machine, either a traditional coil tattoo machine or a Rotary pen, with a sharp needle on the end that constantly moves up and down, piercing the skin and applying microblading faq the pigment of choice in the high dermal layer of the skin. This method uses one solid color to fill in or shade the brow to give it shape and thickness to the brows.
The feathering or feathered eyebrows technique uses a the same machines, and is application of pigment into the dermal layer of the skin as above, however, the artist creates very fine hair strokes, one by one, to give the client the appearance of real, natural looking feathered hair stroked eyebrows.
Although this technique has been around for many years, especially in Asia, it is just starting to get big recognition North America. Permanent makeup artists are now starting to learn the techniques from their Asian counterparts and learning to complete this technique using a hand held blade, this technique is call micro blading or microblading. Micro blading uses a hand held pen with a very sharp blade at the tip. The artist dips the blade in the chosen color and proceeds to make incisions into the skin and creating hair strokes that look natural and realistic.
This technique can be used for clients that have thinning eyebrows, scarce eyebrows or no eyebrows at all. The permanent makeup artist can create the feathered eyebrow look from scratch and create realistic, natural looking, hair stroke eyebrows.
